Prokofiev: Poetico from Visions Fugitives, Op. 22, No. 17

The softest piece in the cycle, this is performed by Prokofiev in an almost impressionistic style. With dynamic markings of ppp to pp, be very careful with the touch and choice of tempo. Both pedals can be used, and fluttering the right pedal gives the mysterious, eerie feel that this work requires. No variation in the tempo, nor ritardando at the end is needed. Prokofiev’s tempo is quite fast (quarter = 168); he uses a very soft touch throughout.
